Join Laetitia for an exclusive conversation with Antonio Pagliarulo exploring how saints arise from many spiritual and religious traditions beyond Roman Catholicism, and how folk saints—unofficial figures requiring no canonization—have long offered pathways to devotion for people on the margins. Pagliarulo’s most recent book, Queer Saints, presents a kaleidoscope of holy figures, from the traditional (such as Mary Magdalene, Francis of Assisi, and Hildegard of Bingen) to re-envisioned saints for a queer constituency, including Saint David Bowie, Saint Freddie Mercury, Saint Alexander McQueen, Saint Moms Mabley, and Saint André Leon Talley, while offering practical guidance on how to venerate them—from building altars to making offerings. Whether queer themselves or embraced for their allyship and achievements, queer saints offer a needed paradigm for those seeking new paths to meaning.

Both a primer on magical practice and a guide to radical transcendence and transformation, Queer Saints makes change and self-empowerment accessible to readers of all faiths and belief systems by spotlighting the transformative impact queer saints have had on our world and their burgeoning influence on our spiritual future.

Antonio Pagliarulois the author of Queer Saints: A Radical Guide to Magic, Miracles, and Modern Intercession (Weiser Books, 2026) and The Evil Eye: The History, Mystery & Magic of the Quiet Curse (Weiser Books, 2023). He writes regularly about spirituality, Witchcraft and Paganism, and the intersection of folk magic with popular culture and religion. Antonio Pagliarulo has been published by the Washington Post, NBC News, New York Daily News, The Wild Hunt, Religion News Service, and L’Italo Americano. He is the son of southern Italian immigrants and was raised in a home where the magical arts were commonplace. Antonio lives in New York City.
